Project 6 - Matthew Miller - The End Is Fear
Are we environmentally fucked?
We seem to be at a critical turning point in consumerism a new age of post consumerism where we all feel we only need to consume what we need to survive. The old boomer notion of consumption as a reflection of status has now gone and has flipped to the opposite, cultural capital is now measured in how little we can consume and in a way that has a positive impact on people and the environment.
How has the fashion industry got it so wrong?
Greed simply put, it's greed. Manufacturers and brands over produce to try and increase profits. This in itself has bought the world to it's knees. We have finite resources.
How do we sustain?
We start to change the supply system, we start to change the minds of the consumer, if we can do these two things we can start to create positive consumerism. Keeping materials in closed loop systems and create new technologies so nothing is ever purchased that is never wanted.
