Valerie Savchits
Valerie Savchits is a multidisciplinary artist, born in Riga, Latvia. Her oeuvre primarily consists of mixed media paintings as well as readymade installations and sculpture. Savchits strings together stories, feelings and fragments of memory to create her own mythological system. Slavic mythology and archetypal narratives play an important role in forming her visual language but she often seeks to destabilise the cultural stereotypes that feed into her work.

Valerie Savchits completed her BA studies at the University of Salford in 2016 and is currently studying for an MA in Fine Art at the University of Brighton. Selected solo exhibitions include ‘Sensational Reportage’, Stour Space, London, 2019 and ‘There is no analogue, yet there are copies’, Careva Gallery, Riga, Latvia, 2019.
