Don't Bottle It
An initiative that aims to provide support to addicts suffering from undiagnosed mental health issues, focusing on the cause of substance reliance without stigma.
A collaborative project - between George Hodgson (Maison de Choup) and Mickey J Ellis (Hit and Run).
The health system in the UK is structured so that addicts struggling with mental health issues are routinely not referred to psychiatric professionals while still reliant on their drug of choice – whether that be alcohol or other substances.
This addiction is more often than not a symptom of these untreated problems.
The result of this is that many thousands of individuals struggling with undiagnosed depression, anxiety and other serious mental disorders are left untreated and suffering reliant on addiction as their only means of coping.
All money raised will be split evenly between two charities:
The Westminster Drug Project seeks to transform recovery for people with addiction and mental health issues. They provide personal, tailor-made support and medical solutions to empower and allow people to live lives free from dependency. Their values seek to dissipate the stigma faced by substance users on a daily basis. WDP works to highlight how negative portrayals in the media are incredibly detrimental to mental health and recovery.
YoungMinds is the UK’s leading charity committed to improving the emotional wellbeing and mental health of children and young people. They provide information, advice and support through their online resources and a free helpline for parents and carers, training for professionals, campaigning, projects with young people and work in schools. support through their online resources and a free helpline for parents and carers, training for professionals, campaigning, projects with young people and work in schools.
